There's about to be a whole lot of changes in DC. Last night the Dems wrecked shop over the Republicans and gained control of the House for the first time in eons...ok, some years. And by tonight we will know if Dems have control of the Senate after the VA Senate race goes through a recount. Several local races, like DC and New Orleans boasted black political officials who won out. And to whoever still thinks their vote doesn't count...they clearly didn't see the VA Senate results last night. The race was separated by less than 5,000 votes out of 2 million. And that race decides the turn this country will be able to take for at least the next 2 years. If that's not motivation to understand the power you have as a citizen, I don't know what is. Ish isn't going well for this county right now, so any change can be GOOD change. Muurinate on that.
On another political tip...I'm real salty Harold Ford, Jr. lost the TN Senate race because that means we have a whopping 1 Black person in the US Senate (the sexy Mr. Obama). And he may be on a White House run these next two years. *Sigh*. And if you have serious issues with this War on Iraq like most Americans, you will be happy that Donald Rumsfield has announced his resignation. And more importantly, his replacement is the current President of my Alma Mater Texas A&M--Dr. Robert Gates. Great guy who I have had enough personal experiences with to know he is on "our side". Things are changing...
Despite popular belief, current event and cultural politics are much more important than celebrity gossip. So I have a duty to take away a moment every once in a while to allow discussion about those things. As a person with a B.S. in Political Science, I'm real excited about the possible changes that are about to take place. There is at least one issue out there that every person is passionate about. For those who haven't discovered it, find it and run with it. Get it together my people....
To all the voters--Stay fabulous!
