Apparently folks are pissy because they see this simply as a white woman dressed in black face to play a black woman. Even though Mariane Pearl is bi-racial. Some folks are saying this part could have been played by numerous black female actors, and it is an insult and even racist to have the part portrayed by a white woamn darkened with makeup. But what some folks don't realize is that not only is Mariane happy about Angelina playing the part, but she actually signed over the rights to the movie (she wrote the book) to Brad Pitt who is the producer.
