The movie is about how a ballroom dance teacher voluntarily takes on students who are sentenced to "after school detention" for the whole year. They are troubled kids in a program to get extra academic help. Mr. Delaine (Antonio Banderas) teaches them ballroom dancing in order to teach them about life, which will in turn give them motivation to do better in school.
And, no, this movie is not trying to bank off Dancing With The Stars' success. It's actually been in the works for 5 years. My interview with YaYa was fabulous. The chick is au natural. Real hair, real nails, barely any makeup, and she was still flawless. And since her publicist said that questions about ANTM were off-limits, she did show her attitudinal side when she got asked about it anyway. She says ANTM was just a side thing to do and acting is her first love. Her acting in this movie? She may want to get a new acting coach if she's really been doing this since she was 5 like she says. But hey, I've seen worse. And fellas, she's a free woman.
As for Rob Brown, I have a new celebrity crush. This dude walked in the room shaking everyone's hand with eye contact and his cuteness level is off the charts. He's so low key and unjaded that it's amazing. His main focus right now is graduating in December with his Psychology degree. This dude most definitely has his head on straight and I don't even think he realizes how talented of an actor he really is. And yes ladies, he's single.Alfre Woodard took the room over when she walked in that piece. She is stunning and so well spoken. Truly a fab woman. Definitely one of the main reasons I liked the movie.
Antonio Banderas had the women in the room about to fight just to get some questions in. He definitely has a way with the ladies and did a fabulous job as Mr. Dulaine.
My interviews with the writer, producers, dirctor, and the actual Pierre Dulane were incredible too.My take on this movie? Could you wait to catch it on DVD or HBO? Yes. But would you regret droppin a couple Lincolns on it to see it when it comes out? Probably not. And not to mention, the soundtrack with Q-Tip and Swizz Beats is cool.
Check out the movie's website and trailer here.
Big up to Stephanie, Nicole, and Tasha over at New Line Cinema for making last weekend oh so fabulous!
